How to propose – Which knee?

Which knee is the best for a marriage proposal?

This should be a simple decision to make and it shouldn’t have much of an impact on the outcome of the proposal, but it actually can as it might have a knock-on effect with other things.

So we want to try to simplify the proposal process as much as possible.

Which knee should you propose on?

  1. The left knee would be on the ground.
  2. The right knee should be up.
  3. The ring box should be in your left hand.
  4. The ring box should be opened with the right hand.

Why go down on that knee?

The kneeling position is the same as a person that would be knighted. It can also be seen as a sign of respect, honour and surrender. As a sign of respect, the man lowers himself as an act of humility before the woman he desires to spend the rest of his life with. (Source)

How important is it to kneel on the left knee?

For most people that are getting proposed to, they will be caught up in the moment and the thought of the left or right knee will be the furthest thing from their minds.

Note – Please keep in mind not to kneel and propose on both knees.
